What is Re-piping?

What the Heck is Re-piping

What the Heck is Re-piping

Re-piping is a solution when the integrity of the pipe(s) that supplies water to your home is compromised. Re-piping could result in a large construction project that may involve excavation to remove and install new pipes. Most re-piping projects in San Antonio are small to medium, but if its large and requires several days to repair, Roadrunner Plumbing & Air will keep you informed throughout the process and assist with temporary lodging arrangements if necessary.

How can you tell if your pipes need to be replaced.

  • Pipe age – The age of a home is often the biggest indicator.
  • Visible corrosion – If a pipe has visible corrosion, it should be replaced as soon as possible. Corroded pipes can spring leaks and shouldn’t be ignored.
  • Leaking pipes – Leaking pipes can be repaired, but if one pipe is leaking there’s a good chance that others in the house will also start leaking soon. Call an expert at Roadrunner Plumbing & Air to find out if re-piping service is needed.
  • Bad-tasting water – If a home’s drinking water starts smelling or tasting different, it’s time to call a plumber. Bad-tasting water can be a sign of corroded pipes that need to be replaced.

Although plumbing systems can last for years, the time eventually comes when your plumbing system needs to be replaced. The last thing you want to do is be without water in your home. Repair times vary depending on the extent of the damaged pipes. Exposed piping may not take as long as piping that requires excavation.

What to do if you are unsure?

  1. Call an expert for a thorough diagnosis and they should be able to provide you with options to perform the repairs.
  2. Isolate the damage if at all possible by turning off the water to your home. Most homes have a shut off valve at the main or near a water softener. If you don’t have one, call an expert.
